Retail theft remains a neighbourhood priority. Drug use and dealing remain a local priority. Anti-social behaviour remains a concern within the community.
Retail theft remains a neighbourhood priority. The beat team has continued to focus on tackling retail crime across the Shelthorpe area. During this period, several prolific offenders have been arrested, charged, and remanded in custody for theft offences committed at local retail stores. Officers have maintained close working relationships with retailers, supporting businesses in reporting offences, gathering evidence, and identifying repeat offenders. This partnership approach continues to deliver positive results and helps target those causing the most harm within the community. Regular high-visibility patrols have also continued at key retail locations, providing reassurance to staff and customers while acting as a deterrent to offending. The team remains committed to engaging with local businesses, responding to concerns, and taking robust action against those involved in retail crime to help keep Shelthorpe a safe place to live, work, and shop.
Drug use and dealing remain a local priority. Concerns relating to drug use, suspected drug dealing, and the exploitation of vulnerable individuals continue to be a focus for the beat team. During this period, officers have actively gathered and reviewed intelligence relating to individuals, locations, and suspected drug-related activity across the area. The team continues to assess all intelligence submitted by members of the public, partner agencies, and officers, with enquiries progressed where appropriate. This ongoing work is helping to build evidence and identify opportunities to utilise enforcement powers against those involved in criminal activity. Officers have also continued to respond to reports and concerns relating to vulnerable people associating with suspected drug users and offenders. Regular patrols have been carried out in identified hotspot locations to gather further information, provide reassurance to the community, and disrupt suspected drug-related activity. The beat team remains committed to an intelligence-led approach and will continue to work with partners and local residents to address concerns and safeguard those who may be at risk of harm or exploitation.
Anti-social behaviour remains a concern within the community. Anti-social behaviour continues to be a priority for the beat team across the Shelthorpe area. Officers are working closely with partner agencies to identify and support vulnerable young people who may be at risk of becoming involved in anti-social behaviour or criminality, with the aim of diverting them away from offending and improving long-term outcomes. Joint agency working remains ongoing, with information being shared where appropriate to support safeguarding, early intervention, and targeted problem-solving. This partnership approach helps ensure that those most at risk receive the support they need while addressing behaviour that negatively impacts the community. High-visibility patrols have continued at identified hotspot locations, including Farnham Road Park, Allendale Road Playing Field, and Parkland Road. Officers have engaged with groups of young people during these patrols, providing reassurance to residents and gathering information regarding ongoing concerns. Reports of anti-social behaviour involving youths on Parkland Road continue to be monitored, with enquiries ongoing to identify those responsible and take appropriate action. The beat team will continue to use a combination of engagement, safeguarding, and enforcement to address anti-social behaviour and improve community confidence.
